Our Infant program emphasizes respect, independence, and hands-on learning from the very beginning. Toddler
Ages 18 months - 3 years
Peninsula Montessori Academy’s toddler program provides a joyful and interactive ‘home away from home’ for children aged 18 months to three years. Montessori educators guide toddlers toward independence and treat their young students as capable. In this setting, your toddler’s newly developed mobility, language skills, and cognitive growth are supported by sensory learning tools designed to enhance pre-writing, math, language, and essential life skills. The classroom layout encourages independence and mastery of their surroundings, fostering a strong sense of self-sufficiency and competence. Our focus on compassion lays the groundwork for socialization by demonstrating grace, courtesy, turn-taking, and caring for one another. This creates a nurturing atmosphere that supports your child's emotional development.
Developmental Milestones:
During this stage, children undergo significant physical and mental transformations that support the development of various motor, perceptual, and intellectual abilities. Their ability to use language to communicate rapidly develops; they form close relationships with others, and their growing body control empowers and enhances their sense of self. Our dedicated Montessori educators are uniquely equipped to support this newfound independence and provide opportunities for children to make choices while learning and developing social skills within a safe and nurturing environment.
Curriculum Highlights:
Being a toddler is synonymous with curiosity. Therefore, the environment functions as a prepared “little society.” Each child is motivated to participate in and explore this society actively. Classrooms with multiple age groups feature appropriately sized furniture, sinks and stools, bookshelves and mirrors, and indoor and outdoor play areas to captivate the child’s natural curiosity.
Toddlers take great pleasure in acquiring practical skills. Tasks that previously occurred around them, which they can now do independently, become highly appealing: dressing themselves, preparing food, setting the table, sweeping the floor, etc. These tasks foster independence and generate an immediate sense of pride at this age, contributing significantly to their overall development.
Purposeful activities are strategically placed around the room on low shelves for toddlers to select independently. Each activity focuses on a specific theme, skill, or topic important to their growth and development. Our curriculum is customized to the interests and developmental needs of our students.
Primary
Ages 3 years - 6 years
The Primary program at Peninsula Montessori Academy is a holistic learning experience designed for children ages 3-6. Dr. Montessori believed that every child carries the seeds of their potential within. To cultivate this growth, children require the freedom to choose purposeful activities within a supportive and enriching environment.
Our Primary Program creates such a space, offering materials that empower children to explore the world's wonders, tailored perfectly to their size. These materials often provide opportunities for self-correction, allowing children to learn and grow independently, experiencing the joy of discovery and mastery at their own pace.
Classroom Design:
Our classrooms are designed to meet the developmental needs of young children, promote independence, and allow for freedom of movement and work choice. Montessori environments are free of visual noise and designed to create a peaceful and orderly feeling. They feature appropriately sized furniture and materials that provide hands-on learning through a self-paced and fully accessible customized curriculum. This classroom design motivates participation, drives academic success, and builds self-esteem.
Multi-Age:
In the Primary classrooms, children thrive in a structured multi-age community, a unique feature that enhances their intellectual and social development. The three-year cycle enables them to assume various roles, from being the youngest and learning from others to becoming the oldest and guiding younger peers, fostering a sense of belonging, responsibility, and social maturity.
Curriculum:
Our environment is filled with educational materials designed by Maria Montessori and supplementary resources that support learning in practical life, sensory development, culture, music, art, geography, science, language, and mathematics. While most lessons are presented individually, group lessons, movement, and music are integrated alongside activities such as storytelling, garden work, and guest presenters, enriching the learning experience.
At Peninsula Montessori Academy, we understand that every child is unique. Our Primary program offers an individualized learning approach guided by AMI—and AMS-trained teachers. Through observation, our teachers customize the curriculum and track student progress. This environment allows for self-directed learning, with teachers presenting materials suited to each child's developmental level and interests. This approach meets each child's unique needs so that their potential is fully realized.

Admissions
Admissions Process
- Inquire—Complete our online inquiry form, and a representative from our school will contact you to answer any initial questions about our program.
- Schedule a Tour—The school administrative team will help you schedule a tour. During the tour, you will speak to a representative, tour the facility, and learn about our programs.
- Apply—Complete and submit the application form to the school with a non-refundable $100 application fee. If your child is enrolled in another school or early childhood program, please forward their academic records to our Admissions Office.
- Student Visit - After receiving your child’s application and fee, the admissions team will contact you to arrange for your child to visit the classroom, meet the teaching team, and spend some time at Peninsula Montessori Academy. A modified version of this will be scheduled for our pre-open schools.
- Letter of Notification - After carefully considering the appropriate placement for each child, the school will notify you of acceptance in writing. Peninsula Montessori Academy has a rolling admissions.
